Living in Cobourg allows you to choose several types of lifestyles. Certainly many people who move to Cobourg, Port Hope or really anywhere along the lakeshore area of Northumberland choose to be full time citizens of the area. But there are families who are not able, or don’t want to make the switch from the hustle and bustle of Toronto permanently.
Still Be In Toronto
The beauty of owning a family home in Cobourg is that you’re still an easy commute to Toronto. Depending where in Toronto you want to go there are options on how you can get there. There is a vibrant Via Rail Station in Cobourg. With trains running into Union Station in the morning and coming back to Cobourg in the eveing. The morning train is the express that runs from Montreal to Toronto – it stops in Cobourg and gets you to downtown Toronto in an hour. We have a whole community of people who catch this train every day – working in a world class environment in Toronto – while their kids are growing up in a wonderful small town, learning the values they want them to learn.
There is also the option of driving to Oshawa and taking the GO train into the city. The GO takes a bit longer (it’s an hour from Oshawa to Union Station) but the train makes many more stops. So if getting off before you’re right in the middle of the city is better – the GO may be your best option.
Drive to the Greater Toronto Area
Of coarse there is always the option of driving into the Greater Toronto area. Depending on where you need to go this is often the most practical choice. The drive time can vary but certainly rush hour will be slow. At the Northumberland Home Values group we spend a lot of time networking and training in the city – all over the city. Driving in is the way we normally go. The beauty of this option is the time you spend getting home – it really makes you feel good to see the Port Hope water tower and then the Cobourg skyline (if you can call it that).
